  • Preventive Dental Care
    Preventive Services
    Preventive care in a dental office includes prophylaxis, or the cleaning of the teeth, which removes accumulations of calculus. It includes examination of the teeth and soft tissue, using visual and tactile exams, radiographic examination, such as x rays, and oral cancer screening. Newer techniques to diagnose periodontal, or gum disease, include computerized measurement devices that measure the bacterial content in the mouth. Sometimes, dentists prescribe medications to help prevent dental disease. These include anti-inflammatory mouthwashes to prevent periodontal problems.
  • Restorative Dental Care
    Restorative Services
    To restore the function of the tooth by replacing missing or damaged tooth structure. Restorations are classified as either: Direct- The restoration is fabricated, or made inside the mouth. An example would be a composite filling, amalgam filling, or stainless steel crown. Indirect- The restoration is made outside of the mouth. An example would be a veneer, crown, bridge, implant, inlay, or onlay. Common materials used are gold, porcaline, and zirconia.

    Endodontic Services
    Also called root canal therapy, that aspect of endodontics dealing with the treatment of diseases of the dental pulp, consisting of partial (pulpotomy) or complete (pulpectomy) extirpation of the diseased pulp, cleaning and sterilization of the empty root canal, enlarging and shaping of the canal to receive sealing material, and obturation of the canal with a nonirritating hermetic sealing agent.

    Is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person's teeth, gums and/or bite. Cosmetic dentistry may involve:
    The addition of a dental material to teeth or gums - examples: bonding, porcelain veneers (laminates), crowns (caps), gum grafts
    The removal of tooth structure or gums - examples: enameloplasty, gingivectomy
    Neither adding nor removing dental materials, tooth structure, or gums - examples: teeth whitening (bleaching), gum depigmentation
